Industrial Application Guide

Asphalt

Under your vehicle or over your head--everyday we depend on Asphalt in one form or another to make life easier and better. From roads to shingles Asphalt is everywhere.

Where does it come from? How is it transferred from one place to another? Where does it go?

Asphalt is transferred from Point A to Point B using blackmer pumps designed for the purpose!

Asphalt must be hot to flow smoothly and freely. It can also contain abrasives. blackmer NP series pumps, as well as the HXL and ML series pumps handle these parameters very well. Depending on the conditions of the application, blackmer pumps can provide years of service. If using mechanical seals be sure to have bronze faces. This helps prevent the asphalt adhering and damaging the seal faces. blackmer pumps can run slower and thus longer.

The NP pumps, fitted with sleeve bearings and heating jackets are often used on road application equipment. HXL and ML series pumps are typically used in the manufacturing process. Fitted with replaceable liners and discs they are easily maintained in line at less cost than a new pump. With the ability to install heating heads on the NP series, the HXL 8 and ML4 can maintain the temperature necessary to keep the asphalt in a liquid state.
