This seminar is designed for Boiler Operators, Maintenance Personnel and first line Supervisory Personell.

Objective:
Overall objective of the seminar is to make the recipient more knowledgeable of what a boiler is and how it operates and what ancillary equipment is required to support optimal operation. Additionally, the program stresses safety and the proper operating practices required to maximize efficient and reliable service of the equipment.

Training Course Curriculum

Day 1
  • Overview of the most common boiler desgns and their unique differences.
  • Why some boiler types operate better in certain situations than others
  • Thermodynamics & heat transfer; Uncerstanding what is really going on inside the unit
  • Total system efficiency; where the losses can occur.
  • Steam system load demand & what causes a boiler to turn inside out!
  • Hot water boilers and systems; understanding the do's and dont's.
  • Boiler operating controls, their function and relationship with the flame safeguard.
  • Boiler accidents can be avoided..The Why and How
  • Proper maintenance recommendations
Day 2
  • Burners & Combustion; the theory and teh application.
  • NOx Emissions and how they can be controlled.
  • Understanding a boiler schematic wiring diagram.
  • Sequence of operation including insights into troubleshoooting.
  • How the flame safeguard interfaces with the relay logic within the burner control system.
  • A review of mechanical pretreatment equipment; softeners and deaerators.
  • Boiler Feed Systems.
  • Boiler feed pumps with emphasis on pump curves and preventing cavitation.
