R.F MacDonald Co. has been in business since 1956. We have over 160 employees involved in sales and service of boilers and pumps for commercial and industrial applications. We have over 40 employees involved in equipment sales and over 90 employees dedicated full time to our parts and field service business. Experienced graduate mechanical engineers are also on staff to assist contractors, engineers, and end-use customers in equipment selections, installation planning, layout, permitting and project supervision. Annual revenue exceeds $40,000,000. Our efforts to proactively promote our field service availability and capabilities are a key differentiator between our company and other equipment sales companies. Our customers expect and deserve prompt reliable service for the products we provide. Specifying engineers and installing contractors have also come to rely on our company to quickly and professionally resolve equipment and systems issues during initial equipment operation. Our company has and will continue to identify areas of added value for the benefit of our customers. We package pump systems and boiler room equipment into pre-piped and wired skids, for example, simplifying field installation requirements. Engineers, contractors, and end users have favorably embraced this concept. We have in-house shop-fabricating facilities that provide these capabilities. Our field service personnel provide design input to ensure serviceable units, input not often available at the equipment manufacturer’s facilities. We have provided pump systems in thousands of wide ranging industrial applications. Through our years of effort to properly apply the equipment we sell, to service it after we sell it, and to maintain and strengthen our relationships with our customers, we have gained invaluable experience in the industries we serve. We have many key employees that have been with our company for ten to fifteen years or more. We also have attracted and retained many employees that have been in the industry for many years prior to joining our company. As we have grown our experienced employees have trained our new employees. We strive to be the most experienced company with the most capable personnel in the industry and in the area we serve. However, times have changed. And we have and will continue to change. We still have the skills to properly apply, maintain, and repair boilers and pumps but this equipment has become increasingly complex. This is especially true in California, which leads the way in reducing air pollutants. We have been involved in low NOx boiler applications since 1978 and have furnished over 1000 boilers since then to meet the most stringent emissions standards in the country. Pumps have also been impacted by air quality regulations. As a result we have become seal specialists through our association with John Crane Mechanical Seals and provide Goulds Mag-Drive seal-less pumps for the most severe applications. REFERENCES SATISFIED CUSTOMERS. Equipment is cost competitive and operation has been efficient and reliable. But don’t take our word for it. IN MEMORY OF OUR FOUNDER, ROBERT F. MACDONALD On
May 27,1996, the founder of our Company passed away after a long and courageous
struggle with cancer. A month earlier to the day, family, friends,
colleagues, and employees gathered together with Bob MacDonald to celebrate
our 40th anniversary since he founded our Company. Many came from across
the country to be with Bob to celebrate his forty years in business.
It was fitting in celebrating our fortieth anniversary that we established
several milestones at the end of last year.
We believe we have the best parts and service departments in the business. The excellent work of our factory trained field service technicians, supported by our engineering expertise, have made these sales accomplishments possible. We have an accounting department that performs without fail. They allow management the opportunity to focus on our most important issues; current and future customer satisfaction. It takes a lot of hard work by dedicated and hard working employees to survive and thrive for forty years. EVERYONE in our Company has contributed to make these accomplishments possible. However, these accomplishments, and those not yet realized, would not be possible if it wasn't for our founder, Bob MacDonald. On March 8, 1956, with eight children at home ranging from one to twelve years in age, a two year old home mortgage, jobs with two different boiler sales companies, and selling life insurance and real estate part time, Bob MacDonald, with an agreement to sell Cleaver Brooks boilers in Northern California, founded the R. F. MacDonald Company. Forty years later, with offices in seven locations, we continue to furnish and service Cleaver Brooks’ boilers, now throughout all of California and Western Nevada. An objective for all of us in life is to potentially leave a part of ourselves with others, as we depart this life for another. There are many adjectives that can be used to describe Bob MacDonald, but perhaps none more appropriate than ‘persistent’. From Bob’s single desk, single office beginning, through the growth of our Company, and ultimately his fight with cancer, persistence was his constant theme. The writing entitled ‘Persistence’ by Calvin Coolidge has been in our office lobby for many years. It reads as follows: Persistence
~ CALVIN COOLIDGE These words can be an inspiration to us all. In the memory of our founder, Bob MacDonald, may they be an inspiration to you. |
