Magnetic Drive Pumps
Magnetic drive centrifugal pumps contain the impeller and pumped fluid with a hermetically sealed housing. The drive shaft from the motor rotates an assembly of magnets external of the housing. Meanwhile, a matching ring of magnets are attached to the impeller inside the housing. Torque is transferred through the housing as a result of the coupled magnets. R.F. MacDonald Co. recommends magnetic drive pumps to reduce leakage and contamination of pumpage, specifically when pumping non-corrosive fluids.
